Get ready for Verifactu with Skanda

From 2027, invoicing in Spain must run on software the tax agency won't let you tamper with. A spreadsheet won't do. We're preparing Skanda so you comply without switching tools, with invoicing built into your events.

No card · no extra EPOS · we help you migrate your spreadsheet

01The timeline

The deadlines already have dates

Verifactu isn't a recommendation, it's an obligation with a calendar. Arriving late risks fines of up to €50,000 per financial year.

Already in force

Compliant software mandatory

Invoicing software vendors may now only sell programs that comply with the Verifactu regulation. Using non-compliant software exposes you to fines of up to €50,000 per financial year.

1 January 2027

Companies (corporate income tax)

Catering businesses set up as limited companies must issue every invoice through a Verifactu-compliant system.

1 July 2027

Sole traders and everyone else

Caterers invoicing as sole traders come under the obligation. 2026 is the year to choose a tool and migrate calmly, ahead of the deadline.

02 — The EPOS myth

You won't need an EPOS for Verifactu

You'll be told you need a hospitality EPOS just to comply with the law. That isn't true. Compliant invoicing will be built into the same software you use to build quotes, plan the event, cost recipes and manage staff.

One tool, one subscription from €99/month, with your invoices connected to the event that generated them. Getting ready for Verifactu stops being a cost and becomes the perfect excuse to leave the spreadsheet behind.

03The tool

How we're building it, without you needing to be an expert

You'll invoice your events as always. Skanda handles the technical side of Verifactu underneath.

01

Chained, tamper-proof records

Each invoice will be cryptographically linked to the previous one through a digital fingerprint (hash). If anyone tried to alter or delete an invoice, the chain would break and it would show. That's exactly what the law requires and what a spreadsheet can't guarantee.

02

QR code on every invoice

Skanda will print the QR code the rule requires on every invoice, so any client or inspector can verify it with the tax agency. No manual steps, no templates to adapt.

03

Submission via an approved provider

Rather than reinventing the integration with the tax agency, we rely on a specialist provider to generate and submit the invoicing record with the fields the Verifactu regulation demands. Your invoicing follows the rule without you having to understand the technical detail.

04

Ready for FacturaE too

Skanda already generates FacturaE (XML), the format that Spain's Crea y Crece law will make mandatory between businesses in 2027-2028. We're completing the rest of the compliance work so your corporate catering is ready for both waves without switching tools.

04The comparison

Why a spreadsheet stops being an option

The spreadsheet you invoice from today is precisely what Verifactu exists to prohibit.

Spreadsheets and manual invoices

  • Invoices can be altered or deleted without a trace
  • No chained records and no digital fingerprint
  • No QR code and no verification with the tax agency
  • Won't comply with Verifactu: fines of up to €50,000

Skanda, preparing for Verifactu

  • Every invoice will be tamper-proof and chained to the previous one
  • Automatic digital fingerprint on every record
  • QR code the client and the tax agency can verify
  • Verifactu-compliant and already generating FacturaE

Frequently asked questions about Verifactu

What is Verifactu and which catering businesses does it bind?

Verifactu is the Spanish tax agency's system (the regulation under Royal Decree 1007/2023) requiring invoicing software to generate tamper-proof, chained and verifiable records, preventing invoices from being deleted or manipulated. It affects practically every company and sole trader that issues invoices, catering and events businesses included. Companies must comply from 1 January 2027 and sole traders from 1 July 2027.

Does Skanda comply with Verifactu today?

Not yet, and we'd rather say so plainly. We're building Verifactu-compliant invoicing (chained records, fingerprint, QR code and submission to the tax agency through an approved provider) to have it available before the 2027 deadlines. In the meantime you can already use Skanda for the rest of your catering management: quotes, events, recipe costing with real margin, staff and inventory.

I invoice from a spreadsheet. Will that work for Verifactu?

Not from the 2027 deadlines onwards. A spreadsheet can be altered or deleted without leaving a trace, which is exactly what Verifactu prohibits. You'll be required to issue invoices through software that generates chained, tamper-proof records. Continuing with a spreadsheet alone after that date can carry fines of up to €50,000 per financial year. The idea with Skanda is that you migrate your invoicing and your event management at the same time, with time to spare.

What does it cost and is it worth it?

Skanda starts at €99/month (a little under €1,200 a year) and includes the whole of catering management, not just invoicing: quotes, events, recipe costing with real margin and staff. Set against a fine of up to €50,000 for invoicing through a non-compliant system, preparing for Verifactu with Skanda is a very reasonable investment. You can see the detail on the pricing page.

Do I need to buy an EPOS or separate invoicing software?

No. Many caterers believe they need a hospitality EPOS purely to comply with Verifactu. Compliant invoicing will be included in the same software you already use for quotes, events, recipe costing and staff. One tool, one subscription, no integrations to reconcile.

Is Verifactu the same as mandatory electronic invoicing?

No, they're two separate rules worth not confusing. Verifactu (mandatory in 2027) governs software preventing invoices from being manipulated. The B2B electronic invoicing rule under Spain's Crea y Crece law (between 2027 and 2028) requires invoices between businesses to be exchanged in a structured electronic format. Skanda already generates FacturaE and is completing Verifactu compliance, with the aim of covering both waves from the same account.
